It's a Jeans world: A Memoir

One of the things my latest trip to San Francisco taught me was to NEVER underestimate the power of jeans. Quite honestly, I've never really been a ''jeans'' type of person. Why? I am not quite sure. I do believe that I shy away from jeans because way too many people wear them in awfully scary ways  and those mental images never seem to go far away. However, we've seen in the last year (especially) that jeans have been pushed to the front row. By all means, when Olivier Rousteing decides to put the main focus on jeans in the Resort 2014 loobook for Balmain (see below), you shut up and understand that a revolution is coming.

To make things clear, I am not writing this article to lecture you about the importance of jeans nor the unbelievable comeback they've made in the last year, I am writing this post to share with you my experience at Macy's (yes) in San Francisco that changed my perspective on jeans. I entered Macy's out of curiosity but ended up spending two entire hours shopping in the section reserved to jeans. As I made my way to the third floor, I looked over to my left and saw an entire floor dedicated to jeans. I surprised myself making my way to the section that held, J Brand, Free People, Current Elliott, Joe's Jeans, and so on. To make my story short, I spent two hours trying on jeans and leaving the store with my first boyfriend jeans (it was about time) and a few more items. Why I did this? Because 1) I desperately needed jeans, I only have one pair in my wardrobe which is pretty sad. 2) Holy! Some jeans out there are KILLER! From patchwork to leather inserts to splashes of paint, there is so much diversity... it is unbelievable. I must have been living under a shell for quite sometime because I had never realized how much different styles we're out there. Here I am, still stunned.

Yes, winter is coming and you might be on the verge of saying goodbye to your favorite pair of jeans but... WAIT! Here is a compilation of street styles that are going to make you think twice about putting those jeans in a box far far away.

Isabel Marant x H&M

Yes, I am a little late but hey, how could I not write a quick post about this collaboration I've been dying to get my hands on? Exactly. A couple of days ago, the lookbook came out and every blogger on the planet was talking about it. As your probably wondering, I was not at all disappointed with the collection. Not only does it scream Isabel Marant incredible style, it replicates every piece a girl has ever wanted to own. From her killer pants to her perfectly selected Parisian prints, Isabel Marant has hit it spot on for this collaboration and personally, I believe this is H&M greatest so far. Yes, you heard me! With this said, I will be seeing you all November 14th in the freezing Montreal weather waiting for the doors to open!

Here is my personal selection:

goodbye summer

Just stumbled upon these pictures while uploading upcoming pictures that will appear on the blog and it reminded me that I had forgotten to put these online. Although summer seems to be long gone with this chilly weather that basically settled in without anyone's consent, I thought i'd finally share them with you. Goodbye now, you will be missed.

I think it is clear to everyone around me that I am not a huge fan of dresses. Very rare are the times I pick one out of my wardrobe and think to myself ''I should definitely wear this today". However, this dress changed the entire game for me. It was feminine in such a beautiful way and I could not resist it the moment I tried it on. The texture and the ''off the shoulder'' look just did it for me in a way no other dress has before.

I opted for simple gold jewelry just to enhance the femininity of the outfit and for me, it works perfectly. This BCBG MaxAzria ring was gifted to me and it hasn't left my finger ever since.

Spotlight on: Eberjey

I've been wanting to talk about this brand for quite sometime now and this gloomy day seems quite
adequate for such a post. My love for lingerie is no secret and it has evolved in such a way that I spend much of my time searching for the next ensemble i'll spurge on. It is no wonder that I fell in love wih Eberjey, a brand who truly invests their time in creating intimates that are both comfortable and elegant.  Let me tell you one thing, their intimates are made out of the best materials out there! Once you go Eberjey, I tell ya... you'll never go back to anything else! Co-founders Ali Mejia and Mariela Rovito really focused on making Eberjey a lifestyle everyone would want to be part of. The best part is, they made it work and now their creations can be found basically everywhere in North America. From bralettes, to their kick-ass boy shorts and not to mention their oh-so-comfortable teddies, I can't begin to draw myself away from their creations. Not to mention their swimwear that looks just as tempting. I truly believe you should run to your closest lingerie store in order to set your hands on their sleepwear or shop online on their website here. The prices are great and believe me, you won't regret it.

*Fellow Montrealers, Eberjey can be found at HR2, Lyla Collection, Holt Renfrew and Ogilvy.

the scarf print

Bargain shopping is far from being my ''thing''. Over the years I've developed a certain phobia towards outlets and I try to stay as far away from them as possible. I've never really understood why people spend hours searching racks trying to find THE piece that will make them brag for hours about how cheap the item actually cost them. You can only imagine my annoyment when people started talking about HR2, Holt Renfrew's discount store which recently opened at Quartier Dix 30, and how they had  found amazing items from Joie, Armani and even, Alexander Wang(YES!). Sure, this sounded amazing but I couldn't even begin setting my mind around the fact I would have to set foot in a discount store, again. However, I did finally decide to go and have a sneak peak... after all, I did work right next to it. To my own astonishment, I started to make my way through different racks over and over again, and yep you can see it coming... I found this great Central Park West blouse for a mind-blowing price. This scarf print is actually quite versatile although I simply paired with a pair of white jeans on this particular day. It has an unbelievable softness to it and can be worn pretty much at anytime of the year. Yep, it's a keeper!

into the woods

Before I even begin to explain this outfit, although there isn't really anything to explain since a sheer blouse and baggy pants always make sense to me, let me share with you a story. It all began with a quiet stroll in Gastown last summer when I was in Vancouver with my family. So many interesting shops, but one in particular caught my eye. With only one foot into the door, my heart dropped. Oak + Fort had won my heart at that very second and ever since, I visit their website every week. I must say, this store is a hidden gem based in downtown Vancouver and everyone should visit it at least once. The spotlight shines on basic clothing pieces that, in the end, become your favorite pieces in your wardrobe. These baggy pants are a perfect example since it is probably one of the best investments I have ever made when it comes to clothing. Oak + Fort really explores the fine line between fashion and culture by taking basic clothing items and taking them to a whole other level. Be sure to check out their website and their facebook page.

so chic so graphic

I'd been searching for a skirt like this for quite some time up until the day I spotted one in the sale section at bebe. It's important to note how i'd been working there for six months now and never had I set eyes on it. Anyways, it is impossible to ignore how versatile a ruffled skirt like this can be. With the ''schoolgirl'' trend coming back in full force this fall, there is no doubt I will be wearing this beautiful piece over and over again.

Although this skirt reminds me my oh-so dreadful high school years wearing knee-high socks and ruffled navy skirts, pairing it with a killer graphic tee and a statement necklace changes the game! Adding a simple white blazer over the outfit brings out the chicness without making it look too over-dressed(Yes!)
